03:15 PM EDT, 04/13/2015 (MT Newswires) -- Shares of Netflix Inc.(NFLX) jumped Monday after the company filed a preliminary proxy statement on Friday suggesting it is preparing for a stock split.

In the preliminary proxy, Netflix(NFLX) said shareholders will be called to amend its Certificate of Incorporation to increase the number of issued shares to 5 billion, par value $0.001 per share from 170 million, par value $0.001.

If the stock split proposal is approved by stockholders at an upcoming shareholders' meeting on June 9, Netflix's(NFLX) management said it plans to recommend to the board a stock split in the form of a dividend
