So, Reagan takes office saying, "We're going to end nuclear proliferation and the Cold War." Everyone says, "Yeah, sure. Carter said that and look what happened!"
Reagan says, "No, I'm serious. There is a window of opportunity during which we can end it if we're willing to engage USSR in an arms race, which will bankrupt them. Their economy is weak."
The naysayers said, "Bullshit. SDI won't work. You'll just cause the USSR to build up its weapons. It won't work." I know they said that because I was watching Nightline like everyone else was.
Reagan said, "Well, that's what we're doing. You'll see."
A few years later, the Cold War is over, the USSR is docile, Gorby gets his Nobel, and you idiots are saying, "Oh, it would have happened anyway."
