I think you missed my point somewhere along the line. What I would like to see is two countries where leftists live in one and conservatives live in the other. Since conservatives act like a magnet to leftists, rather that the other way around, leftists would be banned from flowing into the conservative country.
A question like the one that you posed, "Would you split up families," is immaterial. If the condition of the family is so gray and their collective disposition is so much in doubt, clearly, they belong in the leftist country. When the children become adults, if they are conservative and want to emigrate to the conservative USA, their cases could be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Generally, there should not be much migration between the two sides. Why should there be? Centrists, independents and the apathetic would belong in the leftist country. Libertarians are harder to dissect, but I think they generally belong in the leftist country.
As you correctly pointed out, the conservative country would be smaller. The leftists should be very happy to be rid of us. Without us, they would be free to do anything that comes to mind, at any time, with complete toleration from everyone in their society. Of course, how you work out the Muslim culture of non-toleration and their edict to kill all of the non-Muslims in your leftist country would be an interesting problem, but not my concern as long as you stay out of the conservative country. -g- |
