An Environmental Compliance Approval (Air) has been issued for all sources of air emissions from Metalex Ventures Ltd., an advanced diamond exploration camp located in northern Ontario, 60 km west of the existing De Beers Canada Victor Mine (The De Beers Victor Mine is located approximately 90 km west of the community of Attawapiskat and 100 km west of the James Bay coast).

Sources of emissions include diesel generators, temporary bulk plant and material handling activities.

Emissions to the atmosphere include particulate matter, sulphur dioxide, oxides of nitrogen and carbon monoxide.

The Approval granted is an Environmental Compliance Approval (Air) with Limited Operational Flexibility, which is a single Approval that replaces the existing Certificate(s) of Approval (Air) and includes the addition of new or historically unapproved sources for all emissions from the facility. The Environmental Compliance Approval (Air) with Limited Operational Flexibility requires that the company demonstrate compliance on an ongoing basis with Ontario Regulation 419/05, applicable Ministry Guidelines for Air and Noise and other performance requirements as specified in their conditions. It permits modifications such as process changes, de-bottlenecking or addition of new equipment subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility specified in the Approval.
