By my rough calculations (which could be wrong): Therapeutic dose for a 25 g mouse = 0.0003 g of drug For 6000 mice = 1.8 g Toxicity-test dose for a 10 kg (beagle) dog = 42 g For 50 dogs = 2.1 kg The other thing to remember is that those 6000 doses were not required to be cGLP or cGMP compliant, which evidently adds a lot of time and effort..
