The company was forced to spend nearly $4 million to buy back 1.3 million of its shares to slow a collapse in its share price on North American markets.

Is the operating word forced??? Why would they bother to support the stock price this way? They haven't done so in any other. Do you see Corel buying their own shares out of self interest? I can't see why they would be obliged to do so. Anyone?
