It's especially sad and tragic for the nation because now both sides have clearly learned that they can say absolutely anything during an election cycle just to get elected, and once they are in office, they can disregard all of their promises with no meaningful blowback.
While politicians have always been known as sleazy and dishonest, the problem has been escalated to a higher tier. The big change here is that BOTH sides do it routinely now, so it cancels out any charges of dishonesty being used against them. Why? Because their opponents consistently do the same thing now. If both sides are roughly equally dishonest, it becomes a non-factor in election outcomes.
The Republicans ran on a platform to either repeal of defund Obamacare and amnesty if elected. It was their main position in the 2014 elections. Their victories were heralded as historical and sweeping! Remember?
Once in, they immediately did a complete 180-degree turn, dropped all of their promises entirely, and completely gave $hitstain his complete way.
That $hit really pisses me off, because it can only mean one thing. Both sides will now say or do anything just to trick and fool voters long enough to get elected, and then they join forces with the enemy to do God knows what to the citizens. Hell, the corrupt ba$tards don't even read what the bills that they vote on in Congress, as they've admitted.
I don't know why I still let any of this upset me, because there is nothing that citizens can do about it anymore other than armed insurrection and rebellion as described in the Constitution, and no one has the stomach or cajones for that yet. |
