| | | I wouldn't say "Stay back or I'll shoot." That only announces to everyone around you, especially the potential offender, that you have a firearm, it makes you a prime target to a criminal... it's always better to appear inconspicuous and unarmed so they don't see you as a threat at all... and then, if they draw a weapon on you or on someone else, and you or the other person is in fear of your/their life, they wouldn't expect you to draw, and this is to your advantage, the element of surprise... that's when you draw, take aim, AND fire... never draw unless you intend on firing... otherwise you could then be charged with brandishing a deadly weapon and you could be made to be the bad guy by the time the police arrive... my wife and I each carry .38 revolvers and we know never to show it unless we definitely plan to fire...
Many people have firearms and firearms training, but they lack the knowledge of exactly what to say and do at the moment of the gravest extreme...
