You do realize that geothermal plants and numerous other man-made facilities (like reservoirs, for example) have been known to cause induced seismicity for years, i.e., a release of energy? Some of which have been really, really substantial, unlike any of the so-called "earthquakes" alleged to have been caused by fracking.

What is happening here is the usual double standard. Liberals "like" geothermal, so they don't complain about the fact that California geothermal facilities have created the equivalent of a 6.6 quake. Haven't heard a word about it from anyone, least of all YOU.

You are not going to put enough pressure into an injection well "cause" an earthquake. That is not going to happen. You MIGHT put enough pressure into one to cause a release of energy in the form of an earthquake.

One might even cogently argue such releases of energy are not a bad idea. They might need to drilling a few of them around known fault lines so energy can be released in controlled fashion other than in the form of a North Ridge Quake.
