Pardon my intrusion.. but if I may offer my two cents....Seems to me that about five or so years ago when EFII began selling its 100 and 125 color servers, it was the only player on the block.
The color copier/printers needed a device to RIP the entire image in a single blast..thus the giant controller. The fierys back then cost almost as much as the laser.

Today there are about a dozen (or more) companies that produce front ends for the Xerox, Canon and other Japan Inc. lasers.

Controller costs have been reduced substantially, and although I'm confident that the Fiery box is still a fine product, (and unlike SOME others, its often serviced by the same technician that fixes the copier,) it still hovers near the upper end of the price range.

There are other devices that will do a very large percentage of the color print jobs out there for less money. Sad but very true.
