Actually, as CJ pointed out to me a month or so ago, correctly, almost every state now substantially restricts the amount of sales tax revenue raised from the poor. There is no sales tax paid in many, even most, places, on essential items like groceries and rent. This hasn't always been the case, but most states have now enacted statutes to prevent the taxation of the poor.

You work so hard to serve your ideology that its tiring watching you do it.

The poor buy more than food and pay taxes for.........gas, clothes, cars,......and they pay rent which pays the property taxes on bldgs. All that contributes revenue to gov'ts. They are not getting a free ride except in your ridiculous fantasies.
