Yeah, well, you are lucky. The rest of us have inconsistent service that has gotten considerably worse over the last 5 years.

The one letter (and a rather important one at that) that I sent that didn't arrive on time (despite being sent weeks ahead of time) was over twenty years ago. Of course that just anecdote not solid data, but the mail mostly arrives on time and to the right address today. Maybe it sometimes comes in the evening, but we aren't talking about priority mail here, it will typically take days to arrive, a few more hours isn't really arriving late in such a context.

The post office could do better in terms of delivery time and reliability, but its main problem is inefficient use of resources
