Zeev, I'm willing to bet that a very large portion of Samsung's sales are for export. Korea is a tiny country, small population. You can't grow a giant chaebol like Samsung on domestic consumption alone. And remember, if modeled after Japan Inc., they were oriented towards export products. So the situation is bad, but not disastrous. I went through this with Mexico in 1995 after the Christmas '94 Peso devaluation. The market bottom came four months after the devaluation. Once markets are comfortable with the new political situation, the recovery can begin. They could have every IMF loan paid off within two years easy, maybe one if they follow the right directions.
