The Finnish publications were only in English and targeted to westerners living in Russia. Putin has been afraid to scare off foreign business people, but now most are on their way out if they have not already left, so there's no longer a reason to tolerate this sort of press inside Russia.

Putin and the Orthodox Russian church have become entwined bullies, and now looking impotent as troubles pour over Russia.


This is hilarious but probably not after having to read enough to explain it.

Joseph Kobzon is a smaltzy patriotic ballad singer and now a member of the Russian Parliament, Putin's favorite entertainer, who criticized publications like Charley Hebdo which are "too provocative".

When the western press criticized Kobzon and Putin for criticizing Charlie Heddo and their lack of press freedom, the Russian press made a patriotic outburst defending Kobzon claiming the critical coverage of Kobzon made him Russia's own Charlie Hebdo.

Joseph Kobzon wears possibly the worst toupe in the world coupled with painted-on eyebrows.
