Flip,
another reason why South Australia very under explored for all commodities is that the rocks are largely covered. However, geochemical and geophysical techniques have been developed in the last decade to deal with the cover problem in South Australia. Also, the Government has funded high definition (200 metre line spacing) aeromagnetic surveys for most of the state.

With relatively little exploration South Australia boasts the enormous Olympic Dam copper-uranium-gold orebody. Also, Broken Hill is situated in the adjacent (and related) craton, the Curnamona craton.

Macro and micro diamonds, and kimberlites, have been found in many locations along the eastern edge of the Gawler craton and it is likely that economic primary diamond sources exist. The South Australian geological survey are enthusiastic about the diamond potential.

All in all I think Caldera are doing a good job. Astro Mining will have the financial clout and the contacts to make sure the area is fully explored. Astro was spun off from Great Central Mines diamond holdings. Great Central and related companies are well know in Australia for their very agressive exploration - If they believe in a prospect they go in boots and all. They don't stint on drilling - Great Central drilled 400 kilometres(sic) of hole in a year at the Bronzewing prospect a couple of years ago.
