It's May. This month will be dictated by transition to the summer pattern as several lows moving across the country.

Low #1 is spinning through the Great Plains, while Low #2 is dropping over Cali and Sierras (giving them rain/snow). This will intensify in the Great Plains this weekend (May 9). Severe weather from TX, AK, MO, KS and rain for upper midwest.

Low #2 should merge with the tropical disturbance off shore of South Carolina and move up the east coast. This departing low will allow SW winds to develop over east coast = relative heat wave for Atlantic states this weekend (May 10).

Low #3 drops over Cali early next week. This one is not strong out west, but there'll be nice gradients in the Great Plans for it to really develop by May 14. Active with strong south winds ahead of it and cool air behind it.

There will be Low #4, #5 all moving across the country. It's transient. For me in Florida, I expect to see "variable" weather...flip-flopping about 3 times from dry, cooler air to hot and humid.
