This is called "Gotcha Journalism" (which, of course, isn't journalism at all).

This is the same thing that happened when the press went nuts over Obama referencing 57 states.

Oh, wait a minute. They didn't say a damned word about it because it was Obama, not Carson.

And that's the problem with gotcha. It is just a setup to mislead the ignorant (that would be you).
