That was in public school in the late 50's. They read a few passages to the class... I don't think they were trying to indoctrinate us or anything... Christianity was the "accepted" religion of the U.S. and there was no big deal about it. At the age of 12 or so my mother told me that I had to be "confirmed" in our Lutheran Church. At the time I didn't even know we HAD a church. I had never been there. So, I went to the classes and I really enjoyed them. I read the Bible all the time for the classes. I even became an alter boy.
