Hands up, don't shoot.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Two police officers were shot and killed Saturday night in downtown Hattiesburg, officials confirmed.

Two men, Curtis Banks and Marvin Banks, have been named as suspects in tonight's shooting deaths of two Hattiesburg police officers.

The identities of the officers were not immediately released.

The shooting occurred near East Fourth and Bouie streets around 8 p.m.

Officials said the suspect took an officer's car, which was later found abandoned near the rail road tracks behind the train depot.

Officials from various law enforcement agencies remain on scene.

It is the first slaying of a Hattiesburg officer since 1984.
