< some of the natives are still a little miffed over the civil war. >

I know what you mean..I moved from Mn to Tx. By far the majority of the people we've met have been great...very friendly. I have run into one or two people referring to me as a damn yankee (they said it in a teasing way.) I challenged them by acting stupid (something that comes quite naturally to me..thank you very much) and said I didn't know what they meant. They backed off very fast and said it was a term they used in jest when talking to northerners, UNLESS the person was from the New England area. They explained they felt those people were very arrogant and condescending.

My reply was I really didn't have time to talk to somone at their level since I didn't think we had ANYTHING in common < heh, heh, heh ...just thought I'd check to see if you were internalizing what you were reading...I would never think that of another person, much less say that to someone>.

You're right about some people not letting go of the Civil War... I wonder what their lives are like, carrying that much hate and anger over something they were not alive to experience...my guess is they're living their lives somewhat vicariously, but then again we all do at some time or another. <did I say this like a true politician or what?>
