Mark, sort of tired with the holidays fast approaching,so I will just generalize my idease adout LMDS. First of all the spectrum of LMDS iver over 1 Ghz,at opposed to MMDS being about 1/10 that at 100 MHZ. The MMDS spectrum is not wide enough for advanced services. Secondly,MMDS is not high frequency, low power, wide bandwidth,as is LMDS. With MMDS you have 2 towers situated about 35 miles apart to broadcast. LMDS you have many small transmitters, situated about 2-5 miles apart, depending on the environment. This will allow ubiquitous, inexpensive coverage of an area. Also LMDS bounces off obstacles such as buildings very well. In medium to large cities, with low humidity, this will be an ideal method of high speed data transmission. The RBOC's will not be allowed to bid in their own regions, except for the B channel(about 150 MHZ). The FCC will auction this spectrum in Feb,and I expect that those able to ante up the cash will do well. Small entreprenuers, like us,will buy bandwidth secondarily from those holding the licenses. LMDS has so many advantages over MMDS its like comparing apples to oranges. I live in Florida, and the oranges are getting ripe to pick. Here's a good web site, with FAQ's and articles. It is good reading.
