Deleting IE requires some caution sjmercury.com
For version 3.0, it's fairly easy, according to Karp. Locate the folder labeled ''Control Panel,'' which can often be found by clicking on the ''Start'' button and looking under the ''Settings'' tab. Open up Control Panel and then click on an icon labeled ''Add/Remove Programs.'' Click on the ''Install/Uninstall'' tab, and then scroll down until you find the line for Internet Explorer. Follow the directions to delete the software.
This is odd, because I sorta remember doing this. But, in my nice new clean OSR2 installation, there's no IE listed under either install/uninstall or Windows setup. Beats me.
If you're using 4.0, according to Karp, it's a bit more complicated. Upon installation, the software makes an uninstallation file that's over 26 megabytes in size. ''Lots of people delete that file to save space,'' he says, ''and if you do that, you're screwed.''
Well, that one's too easy, I'll leave it to the reader to supply an appropriate punch line.
Karp does have a last-ditch piece of advice. If all else fails, you can always reinstall the operating system.
Early and often, as Microsoft support will no doubt advise you if you have $200 to blow on a phone call. It's a known issue, as they say.
