All,

After the close yesterday, CNBC said that Lehman downgraded the semi-equips, I definitely heard them say Novellus. But, I can't find confirmation of this anywhere. Did anyone else hear this? If it's true and the stocks aren't budging this could be viewed as a positive for the stocks. However, over the longer term, like the next 6 months, fundamentals (things like BTB's, Global Billing Reports, earnings reports, and forward looking comments by managements) will drive the stocks, as this thread is very aware.

GM,

Thanks very much for the BTB info.

Ian,

Excellent question about the quality of any excess capacity in fabs. I wish I had an excellent answer, and I'm looking for something more definitive. My understanding is that ML is expecting DRAM to go lower from here (they say this is likely). They are saying that Korea is likely to make the situation worse before it gets better and that they haven't fired any workers yet in Korea. And, my daughter is many years away from going to college yet, so I really have time for a few more screw-ups and even "we-got-it-right-this-times".

Thread,

Anyone who has information about the quality of any excess capacity, please post it. I want to know the truth about this situation very much, regardless of whether it's good or bad.

Teri
