As a general rule when using mechanical disk drives, the most frequently accessed data should be located at the beginning of the drive where reads and writes are much faster. For Solid State Drives, this doesn't apply.

P.S. Another consideration when planning your disk. . .

Sometimes, one needs to alter their partition sizes. A little advanced planning can mean you can change partition sizes with less data to move out of the way. As well, when a system uses several drive letters, Windows may change letter assignments when partitions are altered. Again, a little planning at first can save you plenty of effort later.
