Amazing pictures have emerged of police honoring a Vietnam casualty as his remains returned home.

New York Times Carolyn Ryan tweeted five moving pictures Tuesday from National airport showing police standing guard as the veteran’s flag draped casket arrived back on U.S soil.

“Amazing scene at Nat’l Airport this a.m. as the military returned remains of a US solider killed in Vietnam.,” she wrote.

She said that everyone in the terminal watched as the man’s family awaited his casket.

Police from far and wide, including a British “Bobbie” stood guard around the family while they waited.

A fitting tribute to a generation of soldiers who were never thanked enough.
