What has changed at Oracle is lately a lot of their software has really kinda sucked. It's been buggy and hard to use. Developers can't get new products out the door on time because you're constantly running into these walls where things that should work, don't work.

The DEMAND for RBMS applications has NEVER been greater! Companies want more and more out of their software, but it has become so complex that quality is more elusive.

What this is, is a huge opening for MSFT to drive their SQL-Server right up the middle of the field - if, they can get NT to be more scalable. (NT is not just Oracle's fatest growing platform!)

BTW I say this lovingly (sort of). I have built my professional carrer around Oracle, and it was NOT a mistake.
