On May 11 a Redding CA woman shot a male parolee whom deputies were pursuing when he allegedly charged the woman. The Democratic parolee–Dillon Carmelo–“was on parole for a weapons charge and is a 290 registrant who was wearing a GPS device issued by the parole department.”

According to KRCR News, Carmelo was first confronted by deputies shortly after 9 a.m., following reports that he was “acting bizarre and possibly under the influence of a controlled substance.” The deputies noted Carmelo’s erratic behavior and that he kept reaching for his pockets as if going for a gun. They held him at gunpoint but he somehow managed to escape.

As deputies pursued Carmelo through fields and yards, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office put “out a call to local residences in the area advising residents that officers were in foot pursuit with Dillon Carmelo and he was considered armed and dangerous and on parole.”

Redding resident Jennifer Doolittle received the call, retrieved her handgun, and stepped outside to get her dogs and bring them in the house. As she did this, Carmelo climbed over her fence and allegedly “advanced on her and again acted as if he was reaching for a handgun.”

So Doolittle fired a number of rounds, striking Carmelo and stopping the advance.

Although wounded, Carmelo continued to resist arrest when deputies reached Doolittle’s home. He was finally taken into custody with the help of the Shasta County Sheriff’s K-9.

Criminals are a key Democratic party constituency so Democrats like Shep favor criminals over law abiding citizens. If Shep had his way, the criminal would have gotten a chance to assault this woman.
