February 2nd is Chris Kyle Day, declared Texas Governor Greg Abbott. Abbott announced his intention to make the declaration official later today.

Kyle has come under fire recently as left-of-center celebrities and media personalities have insisted that patriotic Americans honoring Kyle were, in essence, worshiping a “coward” and a soldier who went on “killing sprees,”

despite the fact that Kyle’s shooting has been credited with saving the lives of countless numbers of U.S. soldiers.

Perhaps discouraged by the complete success of “American Sniper,” the film that memorializes the life of Kyle, left-of-center talking heads reacted in outrage at the tangible proof Americans still felt deeply appreciative of the sacrifices soldiers make to protect the rest of us. Decades of efforts to magnify anything and everything wrong that soldiers do in war did not have the desired effect; Americans came out in droves to honor the American soldier.

The left-of-center smear efforts failed.

Chris Kyle and his heroic contributions will now be honored in his home state: Texas. Chris Kyle Day will be become official on this day, thanks to Governor Greg Abbott. \\

The Governor stated, “In honor of a Texas son, a Navy SEAL and an American hero – a man who defended his brothers and sisters in arms on and off the battlefield – I am declaring February 2nd Chris Kyle Day in Texas. We will commemorate his passing. But more importantly, remembering his answering of the call of duty.”

Governor Abbott announced Chris Kyle Day during a recent speech at the Texans Veterans of Foreign Affairs Mid-Winter Convention. His speech is provided below:
