But Amtrak’s priorities are not its customers’ priorities.

Amtrak has a route from Denver to just outside Winter Park that runs a non-same day round trip.

There used to be a Ski Train, privately owned, that took passengers to Winter Park on day trips to the ski resort. Parked right outside the resort. I think in the busy season they ran two a day. The owner closed it down, another bought it, but Amtrak (who's union would have to provide the engineers) wouldn't agree on a contract. So the Ski Train is no more.

Does Amtrak see a business opportunity and run a day train to Winter Park, packed with skiiers? Hell no.
