I am a computer consultant. All of my clients use Windows. I have never had a client that used only Linux. Some of my larger clients do have Linux / Unix servers that run in a back office handling some network / database applications, but Windows is far and away the predominate operating system in front offices.

A different interpretation of your two main options

1. limited, little or no support. Requires installation and setup. Existing Windows based systems would require conversion and tested to be ported over. Learning and training needed.
2. Minimal training needed for new hires. Come pre-installed on new machines. Systems already developed, installed, running and maintained.

So it really depends on who is using the computer and what they are using it for.
