YES, now I know why you'd post this to me...

This is representative of something we've been seeing in the U.S.

Cops just shooting people rather than dealing with their intransigence.

This case you've posted about from the U.K. represents pretty much the same thing.

The cops there didn't shoot anybody but they also didn't want to have to deal with a situation that would require a great deal of work and a great deal of danger and probably not a great deal of reward.

Cops in the U.K. and the U.S. don't make a LOT of money while they're working, but they DO have great retirement plans that allow them to leave the job while they're still young so they can go to another job and still collect their pension.

It might be best to have a Highly Paid group of specialized detectives to investigate situations like the one you've posted so that there could be some objective investigation when those situations arise.

That's the only way I can think of to avoid those situations...
