Coronal hole coming for May 28. I've heard rumblings on the internet about the "big one" in California due to planetary alignment. That specific of a prediction is hogwash. I won't rule out some 6.5+ quake or volcanic eruption somewhere on Earth that day, but what good is that? Not much good at all. It's like me saying a hurricane will hit land somewhere on Earth on a specific day versus an outrageous claim of cat 5 hurricane hitting New York and east coast on that day. Specifics...I'm point out a cause-and-effect that needs to be studied more, but I'm not standing on a dais giving specific doomsday predictions.

Internal dynamics of plate tectonics rule the roost. We can grasp the idea of type of plate boundary and frequency of events. That helps, but we still don't understand enough. The moon and solar wind are major "other" factors, which I do believe "jar" plates enough to release the build-up of potential energy...but it's theoretical and needs to be studies more. The planetary alignment always seems to work best in hind-sight, and I just remain skeptical on this minor influence. But I'm not a Ph.D. in this field, so maybe someone knows better?
