Rocky, this is exactly what I have posted about SparQ when those ridiculous performance numbers were splayed all over the SYQT thread. Namely, the average Joe's PC won't get anywhere near those numbers. They are akin to "peak power" specs in amplifiers, attainable in time slices measured in milliseconds. Furthermore, IDE, being CPU intensive, imposes even more constraints. I think his 800K+ speed is going to be typical. I would be surprised to see anyone get more than 1.2M/sec out of any SparQ drive, no matter what the interface or pentium CPU. When it comes to disk manufacturer's specs, my rule of thumb is to divide their so-called "sustained rate" by 2 and assume it is a best case scenario.
