jim, what you say is true, but if you were to read the 10k/q's for the last 8 qtrs you will find that dell bot back their stk cheap with this method.
okay...dell is 75.. their stk is up 270 points in 2 yrs...
and this is with a crash. they were up 380 points in two yrs...

you making it through all those reports.....
many of the things in your post were not facts. read those reports .

there is no case for cpq not going 40-50% unit wise in 1998 and their gross margins should go up not down. even with ASP's dropping.
Question..what did a p166 cost 1 yr ago.
what does is cost now...
what did a fully load proliant 5000 cost 12 months ago and then now...
can you answer those two questions?????
then explain how cpq margins went from 22% to 27.4 %.
