“Loser Sons Of Politics” Meet Sen. Kelly And His “Child Molester” Son
WHY ARE ALL MOLESTERS AND SERIAL KILLERS WHITE BOYS?? WHAT'S WRONG WITH YA?

Jezebel, a humorous political site, has begun a new column called Loser Sons Of Politics where “members of the Jezebel staff recall with fondness the antics of the loser sons of politicians.” There should be no shortage of material.

In their latest column they regale us with the misadventures of Alaska State Senator Pete Kelly, who believes birth control is social engineering for sluts and hoes, and whose son,Devin, 30, is awaiting trial on charges of sexual abuse of a minor under 13 with penetration, and with indecent exposure for allegedly masturbating in front of a child under 16. Both of these are felony charges. Young master Devin has pleaded not guilty on the sexual abuse charges. His trial is set for December 2015.

Don’t you find it curious that in the realm of American politics, the louder politicians pontificate about their family values, religion, and morals, the less they or their family members actually embody them? Pete Kelly, a Republican, of course, has served in the Alaska House and Senate, in various positions, since 1995. During that time, he was also busy co-founding a group called Humble Raven Ministries, although the ministry doesn’t seem to have a website, or any internet presence, or a history of ministering activity. A quick search netted only incorporation and tax information, along with at least five related companies listed. These companies range from construction, mechanical, and building supplies to a furniture store. I think Humble Raven might be an entire story unto itself.

Back to Pete. He has been hailed by the conservative Alaska Family Action as a “warrior” for “pro-life and pro-family” causes. Kelly is dead-set against gay marriage, regardless of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling. He is anti-choice as well, no big surprise. In March of 2014, he mounted a crusade to put pregnancy tests in Alaska bars and restaurants, because Alaska has the highest rate of fetal alcohol syndrome in the U.S. He was slaughtered in the press for claiming that birth control is only used by “ people who don’t necessarily want to act responsibly.” In an interview with Anchorage Daily News, he said, “I’m not going to tell them what to do or help them do it. That’s their business.” Too bad that sentiment doesn’t spill over into his opinions on gay marriage and choice. When asked by the reporter if the act of using birth control itself was a responsible act, he disagreed with the notion. “Maybe, maybe not,” Kelly replied. “That’s a level of social engineering we don’t want to get into.” So he also refers to birth control in dog whistle Nazi speak. Charming guy.

Kelly is also a member of the pack of Republicans who will likely help to mangle Erin’s Law, first introduced in 2014 and intended to create sexual abuse and sexual assault prevention programs in Alaska schools. It’s also known as the “Alaska Safe Children’s Act,” and it should be incredibly non-controversial. Alaska has a child sexual assault rate of six times the national average, with one in four girls and one in six boys suffering sexual abuse.

Senate Education Chair Mike Dunleavy, a Republican from Wasilla, attached two unrelated and pretty shitty riders to the bill: One would repeal a requirement that Alaska students take the SAT or the ACT. The other would allow parents to pull their kids out of any curriculum pertaining to sexuality, sexual health or sexual assault.

Now this mangled version of Erin’s Law is headed for the Senate Finance Committee, which Kelly co-chairs. Given that he’s a big fan of “parental choice and solidly against anything that hints of liberalism, he’s likely to approve the new and distorted bill.

Shannyn Moore, a columnist for the Alaska Dispatch News, as well as at least one popular local political blog, have suggested that it might be proper for Kelly to recuse himself from the debates, given that his son is charged with the two felony counts of sexual abuse.

It also might be interesting to note that the current charges aren’t Devin Kelly’s first rodeo with the law. He was charged with third-degree felony assault in 2012 for ramming his wife’s car with another vehicle. She was inside the car at the time. A report said his wife told police Kelly cut her arm as he tried to break down the car door, “because of an argument about a Kindle,” before ramming her vehicle.

Ahh, those morals and family values. They sure know how it’s done in Alaska.

This might be a good time to bring up Rand Paul and his son. Read about them here.
