It is really hard to make meaningful economic comparisons between these countries and the US or Russia or China, or even Japan. They are just tiny. In fact, you could almost say meaningless. Denmark's GDP is well below that of Walmart.

I think it is an exercise in futility to try to make meaningful comparisons. Not only because of size but because of, e.g., no real need to have a significant military. No need for triplication of services (federal,state,local) through multiple levels of bureaucracy and the other nonsense that make US government such a mess.

I think it is totally a case of apples and oranges.
