Asking the most powerful man on Earth — President Obama — for the hands of his daughter Malia Obama requires some courage, but proposing livestock to get Obama’s approval requires some balls of steel.

A Kenyan lawyer has proposed 50 cows, 70 sheep and 30 goats to President Barack Obama in exchange for the hand of his daughter Malia Obama, aged 16, said Tuesday the Kenyan newspaper The Nairobian.

“I have been interested in her since 2008,” said the young lawyer Felix Kiprono Nairobian in an interview. At that time, President Obama was campaigning for his first term and his daughter Malia was only 10 years old.

“To be honest, I never went out with anyone since and I promised to be faithful. I told this to my family and they are willing to help me to bring together the price proposed for the young daughter,” he said.

The man said that he hopes that President Obama will take his daughter with him in July during his first visit to Kenya, during which the lawyer plans to ask the president for the hands of his daughter. The grandmother of Obama, who is over 90 years old today, still lives in Kogelo, in western Kenya.

“People might think I’m interested in the money of the family (Obama) but this is not the case. My love is real,” assured the lawyer.

He said that he would lead “a simple life” if he could marry the girl. “I will teach Malia to milk a cow, cook ugali (maize porridge) and prepare mursik (traditional sour milk) like all other Kalenjin women,” said the Kenyan man.
