Thank you for your thoughtful response to my question! Why weren't you coaching the other team! I agree that sometimes unfulfilled parents are living through their children, but we also have several ex-pros and almost pros here who seem a little intense for the situation. And now that I think about it, there are some moms who keep statistics on their sons...hmm-maybe this isn't as gender specific as I thought.

Living in yuppieland occasionally (oh, so occasionally) makes me consider briefly(oh, how briefly) the politics of liberalism. But this is more a problem of common sense and prudent parenting than it is politics. It's always a little embarrassing when the girls in my son's eighth grade class walk out with their 250.00 Dooney and Bourke pocketbooks and I'm carrying the 40.00 knock-off or my 10th grader's classmates get into their brand new Corvettes and sports vehicles after school and speed by my not so lovely minivan.

So the problem is not sports, it's our generation's determination to have the best, be the best, date the best, drive, wear, eat the best-and to make sure our kids do, be, get the same!
What ever happened to mediocrity? Just doing "good"? Why do I want to make a million on stocks? what do I think that will get me? (Don't ask.)
