As our Chart Of The Day shows, margin debt in April jumped 6.5% to a new all-time record $507 billion.


I'm curious how they calculate this margin debt amount.

The vast majority of individual investors (I think) use zero margin debt. So....how do you get the total number up to $507 billion?

Is margin debt consumer margin debt, or are all corporate borrowings part of "margin debt"?
