Well if they take one dollar from you and buy three dollars of an etf - there has to be leverage some where??

Seems to me that many traders avoid leverage now vs say back in 2000 - at least I do.

There have been 2 equity instruments that have grown in prominence since those days - options and etf's.

I lean towards thinking those are where all of that margin debt is showing up from.

I'm just guessing but it seems like a good fit to me.
