it's hard to understand how IB gives about 1% while the others are asking 6%-8%. I can understand 1% versus 2.5% or something like that, but it seems clear most brokers are totally ripping off their margin loan customers.

There should almost be a business borrowing money on margin from Interactive Brokers at 1% and lending it to other brokers at 3%. Why not?
