At some point in the next few years I'll need to put in a "laborless" heating system, but that's another age in place story(g). The thing I hate most about heating with wood is the house shrinking and expanding through the seasons. The cast iron pot on top of the stove just can't keep up in the wintertime, it's amazing how much lumber can actually shrink.
The state is pushing heat pumps, but I'm not convinced that is the way to go, especially with electricity @ .17/kw and only going higher. Plus I would still need additional heat on top of any heat pump benefit.

Jeez, 37 degrees here this morning, no frost though so that's a good thing.
