It's ridiculous because Comcast charges an extra fee for EACH cable box with HD, and with my service in Seattle that makes it $10 each. I only have one Comcast X1 box, and it does have the best menus and interface of anything I've used to date, but they do make you pay.

In Comcast's defense, if it is defensible, those X1 boxes cost $1,000 each. I just had mine installed last Friday and the tech told me that.

DirecTV charges only one fee for the entire home for HD no matter how many boxes are installed. I believe it's only $8.00.
