Fuchi, re:MMX2 instruction compatibility.

If true, MXi tape out delay to be compatible with AMD extensions would be good news for AMD. Maybe they can use the extra time to add some other goodies like multiprocessor support. BTW, Raza in his interview said that AMD talked over the instruction set with gaming software companies and others during its development. Do you think some of these guys know exactly what Intel's MMX2 is, and steered AMD towards being at least compatible with it?

The other possibility is that Intel is so far behind in defining MMX2 that even they don't know what it is yet. They are waiting for AMD and Cyrix to cast AM3D and MXi instruction sets in concrete and then they will purposely design something totally incompatible with it.
