NPR’s Dual Loyalty Question to Sanders Shows Anti-Zionism is Anti-Semitism

You would think that Bernie Sanders, the Socialist senator running for the Democratic presidential nomination, would be in good standing with the left. Sanders had boycotted Netanyahu’s speech and won praise from the left for becoming the first senator to do so. But no amount of hatred for Israel is ever enough.
But then NPR’s Diane Rehm decided to accuse him of having dual citizenship in Israel.
NPR host Diane Rehm declared during an interview with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) that he had dual Israeli-American citizenship Wednesday before Sanders set her straight, adding he was “offended” by the comment.
Sanders, who is Jewish, is pursuing the Democratic presidential nomination.
“Senator, you have dual citizenship with Israel,” she said.
“Well, no, I do not have dual citizenship with Israel,” Sanders replied. “I’m an American. I don’t know where that question came from. I am an American citizen, and I have visited Israel on a couple of occasions. No, I’m an American citizen, period.”
Rehm apologized, but said she had seen a “list” that indicated Sanders was, and then she asked Sanders whether he knew if there were members of Congress who had dual citizenship themselves.
Sanders was understandably startled, but he should have remembered the fate of Jewish Communists in the USSR. You can be useful for a while, but eventually you get purged because the left hates Jews. Even left-wing Jews who hate other Jews. The Yevsektsia got to shut down synagogues and outlaw Hebrew, but then they too were sent to the gulags.
There are various versions of the list going around, but they basically take every Jewish politician and claim that he has Israeli citizenship. The research materials for Rehm’s show were blatantly anti-Semitic which didn’t seem to be a problem either for her or for her staff.
It’s not the kind of thing you expect even NPR to pull because it’s rather close to Neo-Nazi territory, but this is a reminder that the left’s venomous hatred of Israel is at its core anti-Semitic and has no actual bottom.
