We haven't measured arctic ice for very long so we have a short record and the arctic is so far away they can say anything they want to about it

....i recall seeing somewhere that the first year satellite data was used to measure Arctic ice cover was in retrospect a year where there was above average ice cover. So, when that year is used as a baseline, it seems that Arctic ice cover has declined,. But based on the average since then, Arctic ice cover is now actually somewhat above average.
