You do realize that sea ice coverage is not the best measure of anything? Since Arctic sea ice, unlike Antarctic sea ice, is persistent from one year to the next. So it gets thicker over time.

In the Arctic, sea ice is considerably thinner than it was. It gets thinner every year. So while it might cover a wide area, the total volume of ice is way down.
