The record for the longest period without a major hurricane hit on the US is one of the records broken.

Are we breaking records for the most days above 90 degrees or 100 degrees .. ie extreme heat? No:

The frequency of days over 90 degrees and over 100 degrees has plummeted since the 1930’s

the Gulf to come in and completely inundate all the bayous in Houston permanently before they will consider there might be a problem

No bayous in Houston are being inundated by Gulf water coming in. Much of Houston was built on swampland / marshland. First converted to rice and sugar cane plantations, then converted into subdivisions with lots of concrete and asphalt that doesn't soak up water.

Some people have a personality that leaps to panic interpretations .... eager to believe the polar bears are all drowning, all the bees are dying, the seas are being turned to acid by too much of a trace gas in the atmosphere, the islands and coastal cities are soon to be under the sea, all the ice is melting, that storm in such and such a place was the worst ever, that drought over there is the worst ever ... bad weather shouldn't happen. I really think they could convince you people the sky is falling.
