Reggie,

"The DOJ wants to be notified BEFORE MSFT releases new software (read thier latest petition). What do you call that, but a software version of the FDA?"

After Microsoft's recent cleverisms in court, I'd say the DOJ wants to make sure the released software COMPLIES with the demands of the court. I did not see this as a Carte Blanc software release thing. Of course when a case of E. Coli breaks out the first thing the people do is blame the FDA rather than the RAND MEAT TRUST.

"He then replied that he wants to protect the future, but we are in the present."

Since when are we in the present on this thread? Forward P/E's, Models which ignore past and present earnings; future cash flows. Suddenly the present is all that's important. We's been saying that all along, it looks like you may be finally coming around.

"When MSFT does somthing wrong, then you attack, this pre-emptive stuff is guesswork and far from equitable."

Yeah, Americans historically jump the gun; kind of like the way we pre-empted Hitler over that Poland/France thing. Those Feds, always worrying about protecting our future...

Cheers,

Norm
