Being a native Texan I have witnessed some stupid things the State of Texas has done for over 5 decades. Repatriating gold is actually a good idea IMA. Not only do they get the gold in their possession but there are two more important acts they are insuring. One is protecting the gold from Federal confiscation(of yes, it's been done before) and the other is putting in place a mechanism whereby gold and silver can be used as currency, if needed.

When a government debases its currency through relentless printing like our Fed has, it is a prudent thing to do. As is having a small portion of one's net worth in physical gold not stored in any institution.
